You Win Some, You Lose Some

I made a baby cry in El Salvador.

And it broke my heart. I love kids. So much in fact, one of my friends nicknamed me “Baby Velcro.” Be still my heart when two of my great loves meld: missions and kids. So when I spied this sweetie in the Ataco marketplace , I couldn’t wait to scoop her up.

Now usually the camera is a great way to interact with kiddos. A super fun way for them to see themselves. I started clicking away. {that’s our sweet translator from Compassion International, Carla. We adore her!}

She quickly became wary and I managed to turn her smile upside down . . . fast!

Please pardon the blurriness . . . I was trying to step away as fast as I could while repeating to her mama, “Lo siento mucho.” {I’m so sorry!}

As you can see, her brother thought it all amusing. Ha! He was a rascal. Yes, I love kids and missions, but still have a lot to learn. One lesson I learned though is Ya win some. Ya lose some. {Smiles!}
