Day 2 in El Salvador with Compassion International

Y’all, this has been a ‘never could I have dreamed’ such an amazing day. First, if I say it once, I’ll say it a hundred times: our team of 6 is kind, humble, gentle, professional, incredibly talented and just plain fun! Thankful for them. Second,  more than one knock-my-socks off surprises greeted me today!

Plus, our day started and stayed at a comfortable temp, with overcast skies and a cool breeze until after lunch. It warmed up, but was still very pleasant! Thank you for praying!!

Here’s a few snapshots of our day:

I didn’t realize we’d be filming at the same house I visited 2 years ago. The house where this trip started: where I was given my bracelet. Oh my heavens! What a joy to see this most precious family again!! Our crew, translators, family and neighbors hanging out while a few shots are taken and locations are picked.

And to top that off . . . my sweet sponsored child, Diego, is their neighbor. Yes, their neighbor!! Ya’ll, it was like a movie (ironic, no?). I didn’t have a clue he lived there!!! He stepped out of his front door. I was a ways down the street. Our translator told both of us we were there and we just ran to hug each other. Words can not express… Diego stuck with us the rest of the day. Check him out hanging with Marc and Luke. Adorable!

How much do you love these two? Since the kids who gave me their bracelet are older now, we had these sweetie pies stand in. Her smile is contagious!

After a very full morning filming, we hopped over to Pollo Campero for a delish lunch!

We swung by one of Compassion’s projects and I saw the same little girls I played with two years ago! Joy joy joy!!!

Back to the “set” with my new ride! Smiles. Carson is adjusting the mirror for Luke for my ‘drive-away’ scene.

My drive-away scene. I was supposed to be ‘pensive’ and thinking. . .  seriously, I had the worst giggles though! Cue awkward trying-not-to-smile face. Ha! The sunlight was absolutely gorgeous and the crew and Tim (CI) made me feel perfectly natural.

And my most favorite hour of the year: meeting both my sponsored kids, Michelle and Diego {added bonus, both their moms came!} My heart’s wings flapped higher than ever. They made this amazing sign {that’s their hands}, had balloons blown up around the hotel lobby {where we met} and gave me presents. And hugs and kisses and smiles and oh my… y’all if you don’t sponsor a child, please consider it. One of the most life-giving investments I make.

I’ll be posting a lot more on this trip, and our time together, but there’s a quick snapshot of Day 2.

Thank you a bushel and a peck for your prayers and love! We’re up and at ’em, on the road by 3:45 AM so I’m off to bed! Sleep tight and I pray as you abide in Christ you are restored, refreshed and know His peace.
